KYC preparation - How to KYC?

In the Pi KYC process, you must upload a picture of your ID and take a live selfie. To prepare, you can check the below.

✅ Have your valid government-issued ID at hand. Passports, National ID cards, and driver's licenses are common IDs; a complete list per country is in development.

✅ Make sure you have your Pi Network app and Pi Browser app on a mobile device with a working camera

✅ Download the Pi Browser app if you don't have it yet OR make sure your PI Browser is updated to the latest version (1.6 for iOS or 1.6.1 on Android) 

✅ Allow the Pi Browser app to access your camera: on your phone, go to Settings > Pi Browser > Camera (allow)

✅ When you start the KYC process, make sure you are in a well-lit area, and you have a stable internet connection

Please note: for KYC, your Pi account name must match your name on your ID. New Pioneers have a 14-day counter to correct their name at the bottom of the Pi app home screen. After 14 days, only minor corrections are possible via the name appeal feature in your Profile.

Before KYC, the first thing to do is make sure your name on Pi same with the name on the doc.

IMPORTANT:

If your document ID not same with the name on your Pi Network, you must do the changes by clicking on the profile. You must do the changes before the KYC. If after KYC, you have no chance of redo.

After KYC, no chance of redo. Saw the one with "Review In Progress" here & there? 

Other issue: upload a wrong ID. You selected a National ID but uploaded a License ID.

Tips For Doing Your KYC!

To make the review of your KYC application easier and possibly quicker, please follow these guidelines:

💡 To take a picture of your ID, make it as well visible as possible:

• Don’t place it too far from your phone camera (ID Details or your Photo in ID is hard to recognise), and don’t place it too close to your camera (not everything will be visible). Leave just a little space on all sides.
• Take the photo as sharp and clear as it can be
•  Avoid reflections on the ID
• Do not capture it too bright or too dark, or none of the details could be seen

💡 For taking a SELFIE: make sure you are in a well-lit area, and the picture you take is clearly visible, not blurred etc.

💡 In the LIVENESS video: blink, smile and make a movement.

💡 Submit BOTH SIDES (front and back) of your ID if both sides contain relevant information. If not all relevant info is visible, it will be rejected.

💡 Make sure you select the COUNTRY matching the country your ID is from; if you are using an ID from country “A”, in the dropdown menu for Country, also select country “A”.

Open the browser through the Pi app...

1. Phone model and system version
2. Pi app and pi browser version
3. If you have an android - Webview version
4. Mobile data or wifi
5. Try clearing the phone's cache or kill the app. Sometimes, restarting the phone also helps...

❗ Problems submitting your KYC application? Please check the below ❗

1- empty the cache memory in your phone

2- drop all other applications running in the background

3- update Pi Browser to the latest version

4- requires iOS 11 or later for iPhone

5- requires Android 7 or newer for Android phones

6- update Android WebView to the latest version (from Google PlayStore, below 47 version will not work)

7- if your phone is older, use someone else's phone

8- provide fast and stable internet

9- switch WiFi - Data or vice versa

10- change your app settings to your native language if available, or seek help for English if you do not understand it well enough

11- provide sufficient lighting in the space where you are taking pictures

12- hold the phone still in your hand, without sudden movements

13- look at the camera at the top of the screen, not in the middle of the screen

14- follow the described situations for each step of the recording (smile, surprise, stick out tongue etc.),

➡️When you confirm the submission of data and receive a congratulation for the submitted application, open the KYC feature occasionally to check whether your KYC is approved.

🚨IMPORTANT NOTE🚨

Before KYC, ensure the current appearance is the same as the ID. Even if not 100%, at least close to 70-80%, so the validator can recognize it is you. The success rate of being accepted will be high. Otherwise, 99% will fail. This is because you will also be required to take a liveness selfie recording. When taking a selfie recording, please show that you are happy and open your mouth a bit. 

Therefore, if your current appearance does not look the same or similar to the one on your ID/Passport/Driving License, please update to a new ID Card. Please pass it on.
